Evening

our Galaxy with 1.9 TDi 110 VW engine has had starting problems.

When trying to start it, it turns and turns but doesnt fire, until point battery goes flat.

Been to garage, and they replaced the Glow plugs, and still no change.

Been back and they have changed the wiring so that i have a extra connector comming out the dash which I have to disconnect to start it, then reconnect it.

apparently its so the system thinks something to start it.

any ideas, and is it a common fault!!

cheers

Graeme

you may be better asking the garage that wired it, in all honesty!
i hope that doesn't sound rude, but if you had a sensor at fault, surely they would have changed it?
perhaps if you ask them to write it down, and come back with that?

Sounds like you are unplugging the temp sensor on startup (increases crank rpm & main glow phase).

You may want to try replacing the coolant temp sensor.

To put it mildly, your garage does not know what they are doing.

well the garage have done something so that it does start, a bit of a bodge by all accounts, but since it does now start, i think they do know what they are doing, sort of, if you get my drift. i do hope though that this is only a temporary fix so you can use the car until they get whichever part is required to fix it properly.
