I have a 2001 Audi S4. After 2hrs of straight driving I get a "2h" light come on and flash on the dashboard. It seems like it's telling me to stop driving it after 2hrs. Is this what it is or could someone tell me exactly why I get this or what it means?

Thx

Your right, is telling you to take a break, flick the rocker switch to change the DIS and the warning will reset....

MAXX, I believe this is just reminding you that you have been driving for 2 hours and thus prompting you to take a break

Thx alot guys. What and where is a rocker switch? What's a DIS? So it's not a problem to drive it for more than 2hrs? I thought maybe it was due to the 2 turbos and the heat they create.

DIS is Driver Information System and is the display in centre of your dash that has all info displayed and you can scroll through by clicking the rocker switch on the end of the wiper stalk.

Oh OK. I didn't know what those are called. Hitting the rocker switch definitely doesn't shut down the warning though. So do you think you burn more oil after a couple hours or is it just a "Hey , you should stetch your legs" thing?

It's simply your Audi looking after you and trying to get you to take regular breaks when driving long distances. It will flash up 4 hours aswell if you go that long!!

Thx alot for the replies. I take a fairly regular 3-3.5hr drive out to my folks place. I always wondered if I was damaging the car driving it for that long.
