Noob: what is next to the battery

First post (be kind), I have just successfully changed my pollen filter, however, following the pictures I originally unscrewed 3/4 bolts on the left of the battery before I twigged that the pollen filter is on the right..

What is hiding under the left is this the air filter cage, which I paid the dealer £60 to do :zx11:

Id guess thats about right, £20ish for filter, 30mins labour for fitting - although i would have thought a min labour charge would have bn an hour, which is more than £40ph with audi
