Leon Engine Querie

Hi
My mate has blown up the engine in his 1.4 Seat Leon about 03 i think. I have a Polo 1.4 (P reg) sat on my drive with a knackered gearbox.
I was wondering if the engine from the Polo would drop into the Leon and be compatable with the gearbox.
Any ideas?

I dont know the facts but i would have to say no.
For one the leon engine bay it a lot larger so there would be a fitting issue
If you said Polo and Ibiza then i would say yes cos they are the same car, Golf and the Loen, yes but the Leon and Polo are too different.

hi we recently fitted a polo engine in a vw golf the polo was a 1998 1.4 16 valve engine code AHW and the golf was a 1.4 16 valve engine code AHW straight swop in 3 hours so yes but the gear boxes are diffrent mountings hope this helps carl
