Hi All.

I want to get some big brakes for my A4 Avant 1.9 tdi and ive found a set of S4 discs/calipers and the suspension bit (?), i spoke to the garage who will be fitting them and asked if there would be aby problems with the master cylinder and or the ABS system....i know a few people on here have done it.

Is it just a case of swapping the calipers discs and suspension bit and then job done or is it more complicated?

Cheers,

Dave.

Hi,

I was looking at swapping some S4 Cabriolet (B6) onto my A4 3.0 TDI (B7) last year.

Apparently the hub is different.. so you need the whole hub assembly off the S4 too!

Thanks for that.

The hub is what i was refering to as the 'suspension bit'.

Did you hear anything about having to upgrade the brake master cylinder?

Im thinking the garage are just being careful as ive seen people put Porsche brakes on....so some S4 ones shouldnt be a problem. Fingers crossed!

Cheers,

Dave.

Did you ever see the episode of topgear with the Renault Avantime?

They put bigger brakes on it, made it go alot slower.

Hi,

I was told that there would be no need to upgrade the master cylinder on my B7 3.0 TDI (the brakes were fairly big anyhow).

The B6 1.9 TDI might be a different story though.. but I suspect that it will be just fine.

Although the calipers that I got (from a B6 S4 cabriolet) were very big, they were still only single-pot (cylinder)! I expected them to be at least 2-pots!
Are yours the same as the photos below? If so, I think your existing master cylinder will be ok (but I'm no expert).
I suspect if you were upgrading to Brembo 6-pots, a larger master cylinder would be required!

Another option would be to fit S4 discs and Brembo calibers from a Q7.

Still got the S4 caliper and 2.0T disc set up if you're interested, it's a straight swap.
May as well have a January sale seen as I haven't done anything about selling them. :biglaugh:

Id completely forgotten about that Marc! Is it the same size caliper then and just slightly smaller discs?

Will drop you a PM mate....need a bacon sandwich first though
