Hi

I have a sort of anoying noise coming from the engine compartment, all start around 1200 rpm -1700rpm then everything go back to normal after 1700rpm, noise is a sort of like somthing was vibrating not sure if could be some kind of cover or exhaust. It was the before but not as loud as now.

Any info would be great help and Merry Christmas :biglaugh:

My 130 TDi also did this, it was the air intake top box resonating (just next to the drivers side inner wing). I wedged a piece of sponge between the inner wing and the plastic box which cured it. I also had a slight vibration from the plastic engine cover, I cured this by buying new rubber inserts which fit to the mounting points of the cover. As said above, get someone to rev the engine to replicate the noise whilst you apply pressure to the above items to see if the noise stops!

possibly the catalyst rattling? try pressing a hammer handle hard against it, see if it stops?

Thanks to all for advice I did manage to find the noise today as I had a bit spare time, it is air intake pipe that do vibrate and start rubing on airbox cover that mounted buy 2 screws and some sort of ruber, now I can stop this due to the pipe will not lock in place just where connects to air filter box, I know there is no any clips and maybe using sponge or something else is only temp solution, is there anything else that I could do?

I have just had the same thing happen on my car,i didnt want to drill or screw anything to the intake so i used Velcro Tape with double sided sticky tape and taped a small piece onto the side and rear of each part and hey presto no vibration and a quick release fitting when a filter change is required and only cost £3
