how to bypass the EGR valve...?

hi! my mate has a 2.0 pd tdi engine in his leon cupra, and has bypassed the EGR valve.

i was wondering if its possible on the 1.9 tdi 1996 audi a4?

if so...

has anyone done this?
what parts did they buy?
is there a kit that can be bought?
