Great, I’m assuming that the procedure involves the use of a rolling road and live laptop runs to collate engine data and modify engine management parameters accordingly for optimal performance?

As some of the companies I have spoken to promise a 'custom' map which, when isnt that at all. Turns out to be someone uploading a slightly different map if the first or second one didn't suit the engine..nothing custom, just an unproffessional hit and miss approach.

Hi Rich, sorry mate bit of confusion here.
A remap is usually done with the std map modified, which can cope with a few mods including hybrid turbo/ exhaust etc.
A live map is done on the road with all the data read and altered by driving on the road not on the rolling road,
Live mapping takes a lot longer to do as there is more involvement and modifications to make, this is normally done on highly modified engines due to the amount of mods and it does cost cosiderably more than a remap...
