spray paint help

hi guys,

at this point we are having a silver 1999 passat spray painted, we have had it prepped and body filled etc etc, the painter is trying to find out colour of the base coat or the code for this car,

if anyone can advise or point us in the right direction, then please do,

paint code should be on a label in the boot....:beerchug:

It's either Reflex Silver (LA7W) or Satin Silver Metallic (LB7Z)

As Lee says, the paint code is on a sticker in the boot, or in the manual (if you have one)

Was this the passat that was advertised on ebay a few weeks back from a vwaudi form member? there was also an add for it on the 'for sale' section of this forum?

Blending with the other panels will be a challenge...I assume he will remove the masking from the adjoing panels to feather the new paint in when he does the final finish ? Looks a good job so far though...

hi ,before you go getting paint it might be wise to use colour chips and get the right match as you may have as many as 10 variants in colour even with the same paint code.alternate 1,2 3 ect,so if your painter is worth his salt then he should know this.good luck anyway.

sorry ,forgot to add,if you go to a well equipped bodyshop they with get the chips out and help you decide which variant it is,failing that if your not far from me ((northamptonshire )then i could borrow our bodyshop chips and let you choose what variant the colour is.my passat is inky blue and that has 6 different variants from the standard colour.

here you go, new windscreen, rear wing, 2 doors, front wing will just needs wet flatting this weekend to blend the paints in, more laquire, and the drivers door lock and handles re fitting, then it will be off next door for a service and a wet vac valet, then you know where its going to from there,
