If it's not the MAF then .... ?

Sharan 1.9 tdi 1997, giving those wonderful characteristics of the air mass meter being dead.

Changed it and the ECU has been reset, worked for a day and now it has gone again.

So assuming that it is not the air mass meter what are the most common things to fail/stick that will give the same characteristics (i.e. EGR etc).

where did you get the new maf from. because the new maf cured the fault, i suspect either the new maf has died, or you have a wiring fault, possibly at the connector. try cleaning all the pins .
