Have a new CC with RNS510, yesterday tried to load some mp3 files onto it using a Sandisk extreme III 4gb card and got a card error, tried a 2gb card and it read it fine. Manual says it should accept sdhc up to 32gb was it a bad card or does it not accept sdhc?

If I reformat it again should I reformat it as Fat32, I thought this was default for SDHC cards but cannot remember. If my radio cannot read it at all giving he error does this mean its a bad card or just that the radio cannot read sdHC?

It could well be a bad card, but all newer RDC510s should be able to read SDHC.
It will mention it in your manual.
Reformatting the card will not do it any harm anyway.
Good luck.

Cheers EOB, I borrowed the card from my daughters camera, where it works, according to the manual it should work, but is do not have anothe SDHC card to try at the moment and am reluctant to buy one if it will not work. I will try to reformat in FAT 32 again,

I have a RCD510 (no sat nav) in Sept. 2009 registered Passat Estate and have been using 8GB SDHC Sandisk cards without any problems - these are formatted to FAT32.

My handbook states that upto 32GB devices can be used, but I have not tried anything larger than the 8GB devices :D

Bad card - or try re-formatting the card ????

I have a 32gb SDHC in my 95 plate CC. It dose work however i think you have to get a class 6 card. They have faster reading than the cheeper cards. So it could be that.

Good luck

The card I got the error with was a Sandisk extreme III 4gb, according to the specs it is a 30x card, which I believe would make it class 4, but wen googling many sites quote the extreme III as Class 6. I'm now confused. Dont want to purchase another card potentially of the same class until I know.
