Hi can someone help?

I just bought a vag com cable with an ODB2 connector off ebay,
(this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300094105572&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RCRX_Pr4_PcY_BIN_Stores_IT&refitem=300106717757&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=CrossSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget)
and am trying to connect it to vagcom 409.1, on my laptop. Once the drivers installed, it has installed as a serial port to com 2.

trouble is when I start vag com and do the test, it says port status is ok but "interface not found." I did the LED test as well that performs fine but the first test does not seem to connect.

I even had the car running during the tests, the cable has a light on the adapter which is not on (should it be?) I have double and triple checked its securely plugged into my B5 passat (99 model)

any advice/ideas appreciated

cheers,

Did you install the driver for your cable (not Ross-Tech's own) and set it up in Device Manager as a COM Port and then choose the same COM port in VAG COM? (even though it is USB)

Is it autonostics (they are that colour)?

I bough the same product off the same guy. It comes with a small CD which has drivers that you need to install on your laptop / PC.

After that just test your COM ports. I think for me it works on COM Port 2. I got stuck on it for ages cause I was expecting it to work on the USB port.
