hi, its probally because the rear speaker output on the headunit is in a diffrent place to standard. i think one of those short looms from halfords would sort it. but make sure. rip off for £15 though, at least you will be able to get your money back if it doesnt work.

Hope this helps.

You need a wiring harness adapter and an amplified aerial adapter. The adapter for the wiring harness ensures the sub amplifying the rear speakers gets power and the aerial adapter boosts the signal, something that was previously done by the standard head unit.

These are the parts that I used, however, the guy in the shop highlighted that there were at least four alternative cables for the different audio set ups. I'd check with an audio engineer before buying an adapter.

Mine's a 97 1.9 Tdi A4 B5; 110bhp. The factory head unit was a Concert and these are the pics I took prior to fitting my Pioneer...

Rather confusingly, the red plug attached to the car doesn't fit in the red socket on the adapter; The yellow, green and blue plug slips into that little fella leaving the red plug loose. Also, the bullet connector on the blue/white wire needs to be connected, if it's not your rears won't work.

The blue lead coming from the aerial adapter should be connected to a live. It has a plug fitting allowing it to be slipped straight into the plastic housing of an ISO plug, but I had to chop it and use a spade connector to wire it into an existing remote power lead.
