99 A4 (V6) Won't Start in Cold

I am having trouble with my A4 not starting. If I let the car sit for too long when the weather gets cold it won't start. Depending on how long it sits it may try to turn over and other times it won't even turn over. Usually if I connect a battery charger/starter to it, it will start right up. Tonight it wouldn't start but all the lights/windows/alarm still worked. Any ideas what might cause this?

If it won't start on it's own battery but will with the help of another ,Iwould have to assume that your battery is dud, or your alternator is not pumping enough charge through
More than likely the battery if it loses charge after sitting about for a while,£40/£60 should cover it.
