Can anyone tell me what engine oil is suitable for a 2.0 TDi 140 Tiguan engine..? (haven't got the car yet otherwise I'd look it up in the handbook)
I ask because I've got a litre of SAE 5W40 100% Synthetic (50501 50200 50500) sliding around in the boot of our Golf which is being sold tomorrow and if it's no good for the Tiguan, I'll leave it there for the new owner..
Many thanks
Geoff

If your Tiguan is fitted with a DPF then you shouldnt use the 5w 40. You need vw507.00 . Its 5w 30 fully synth

Could be mis-informed but I think your new car will have a litre bottle supplied in the boot ,my friends Passat tdi did (2.0 140 tdi)

I have one, and the spec is 5W 40 (or 5W 30) -> important-> VW 507.00

506 should not be used for cars with a DPF filter.

I did not get a bucksee litre of oil with mine, which I thought was a bit mean.

The oil has to be fully synthetic, and to the 507 spec: Castrol Edge and Mobil 1 are suitable provided the magic spec number is on the bottle.
It is very expen$ive....
