I removed my gear gaitor from my passat tdi to grease things up and found a little black box in there which had an adjustable screw on it dont know if its something to do with a phone cradle but i cant find holes where a phone would have been so what could it be???

If you have an older Passat it is probably part of the Votex aftermarket alarm.

I have been thinking of re-greasing the gear selector mechanism under the gaitor as well as I find selecting 3rd gear a bit stiff sometimes. Is there a write up of this procedure and what grease should be used. Mine is a 130 sport est 2001.:1zhelp:

i have one of these black boxes in the same place on my 98 tdi. thought it may have been a flight recorder :D

i had one in my volvo 850, it was the shock sensor for the airbags.

this is the sensativity control for the cars alarm system.it should have a serial number on it somwhere in white letters
