Hi
I just bought an S plate VW Polo 1.4CL. I bought it from my brother who has had a non VW garage do work to it. I tend to do it all myself. There is a message on the dash that says SERVICE OIL. He says its been there for ages and does not mean anything. What does it mean? I take it it means change oil and filter now. This has recently been done and inface the car just went through an MOT needing just a wiper blade!

So in short what does the light mean and how can I reset it?

Thanks
Justyn

Anyone got any ideas? I plan to put the car on the road next week and would really love to resolve this.

I checked a POLO manual
For anyone else searching the forums for this with no reply here is what to do.

The service iterval light has not been reset by the garage servicing.
1 - Ignition off press and hold trip meter reset
2 - Ignition on - continue to hold on trip reset button at least 10 sec
3 - Dashes appear on dash
4 - Ignition off
5 - light should no more be there!

Just need to check it out myself now.

Hi Justyn, Did it work? I have a V reg 1.0 Polo which I tried it on but with no luck... the 'Oil service' is still there!

1.press and hold the trip with the key in the ignition but switched off
2.Then turn ignition on but keep the trip button pressed in until --- appears on the display thats all.

the service oil means that the oil should be changed aswell as the filter so just a normal oil change
