Changing headlight bulbs in a Fabia vRS

Hi
I need to replace a headlight bulb in my vRS. It looks like I have to remove the battery to do this, is this right? The manual also says turn the ignition on before removing the battery - this does not sound right to me - any advice?

Mnaged it. A tight fit, but managed toget the light panel off without removing the battery.:D
