2500 miles on the clock and my oil reader is getting ever closer to "min". Are others seeing there oil level drop rapidly? Have been told this is normal in a brand new car.

Any views on what is the best/most reasonable top up oil to purchase. If so where from?

Looking for info on petrol 2.0 TFSI in particular. Would appreciate confirmation of what rating should be used and what brand of oil others are using?

Cheers

Didn't you get a bottle of oil when you picked the car up?

Mine was (is) in the boot, waiting for the car to need some. As to the recommended oil, I seem to recall there was a thread on here a week or so ago about it. Can't remember much except it was expensive, even when bought cheaply :(

had the same issue at 6000km. Dealer said the turbo needs oil to cool off. Will need more oil for frequent short distance rides

They should all come with a litre of `Top-Up` oil in boot from being PDI`d.Unless the dealer is being a bit tight!

Gave it a try, and it came up with
"A4 2.0 TDI DPF Multitronic, -Avant (CAGA 105kW - QG0/2)"
when mine has a manual gearbox, which is strange...
(I did get a bottle of oil in a bag in the boot).

After 12000 miles I have had to add 1L of oil twice. At £15.99 a litre from Halfords.

My B8 is using considerably less oil than my B7.

I have used half a litre in 17500 miles where as i would pretty much change the oil in the B7 over that distance (2 or 3 litres) so used to buy the 5L jugs from Halfords!

Put just under 0.5l at 10000 miles did not need to top up again before servicing at 17000 miles. Very carefully run in - I believe this makes a difference specially the first few thousand miles. Kept under half throttle and less than 3000 rpm for first 1000 miles. Have always done this (5 new Audis amongst others) never used more than a litre between services on any vehicle I have run in.
Just my theory but my stepson who thrashed his (company) car from new seems to always be putting oil in it

What a pleasant surprise following my trip to the dealer - left with complimentary 1 ltr Mobil top up oil in posh black holder and as a sorry for forgetting to include it when I purchased the car they gave me a free ltr of washer fluid.

A worthwhile trip.

Well done Plymouth Audi!

Won't find it cheaper than this - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Castrol-Edge-5W-30-Oil-1-Litre-free-p-p_W0QQitemZ260515674694QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsP arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item3ca7f1ba46

If I were you I'd go back to the dealer and ask for the oil. Apparently the oil comes from Audi and NOT the supplying dealer.

I had this problem with my B6 A4, went and complained and got my oil pack.

'Shy behns get nowt' as they say up North!

:beerchug:

PS MY A4 which is the same as your model, without the S tronic, uses about the same amount of oil. Don't think its anything to worry about tho'.

So are we supposed to get this oil as a complimentary extra?

I'm only asking as i've just asked Audi for mine 'cos I didn't get it with the car! ;)

Yes. Like I said from Audi & NOT the dealer!
