2001 A4 Armrest

Having sold my heavily depreciated TT. I have now purchased a 2001 A4 2.0 Auto. Unfortunately the car did not come with front armrest:aargh4: . I have subsequently purchased one from Audi along with the relevant bracket.

After hours of attempting to fit this armrest successfully, it just will not fit:zx11: . Audi are also none the wiser. I think I may have to cut out a small section of the centre console to allow room for fitting. Before I give it in to Audi for the cost of probably an arm or a leg, I thought I’d ask you guys if you had any advice.:o

Any help with be most appreciated.
