We have a 2001 A4 Audi Avant that we purchased from new. About a year and a half ago, we started having problems with the car, which up until this point in time had been extremely reliable. As soon as the weather is wet, it has very little power in first gear and when you put it into second, it jumps like a kangaroo and there is an odd smell. In dry weather it is completely fine. Our local garage has carried out test after test and has tried changing various parts, but with no success. The air flow meter, injectors and lift pump have all been checked and are fine. The most recent part that was replaced was the EGR valve. When the car was taken in today and they disconnected this valve, the car worked perfectly, so it must be some problem connected with this. Has anyone come across this problem before or does anyone have any advice?

Hi Sally,

The EGR valve can cause poor performance. Posting in the A4 topic will be your best bet for an answer though:

Hi sally

You could have some wiring problems have your garage checked all the wiring from these parts up to ecu for chaffing and water ingress .
