View Full Version : Dedicated wiring required? Passat 1.8t 2001

Hi
can anyone help, i've just bought a 2001 1.8T Passat saloon and need to fit a towbar and wiring.
Q1. Does this car need a dedicated wiring kit? single socket only req.
Q2. can the forum members recomend a towbar, may go for detachable depends ony price, photo or web links welcomed.

visit towequipe on ebay , they do a swan neck type towbar ,which can be removed when not in use , £86-50 , wiring kit comes in at around £48.00 . im buying 1 this week , fitting myself . :beerchug:

I have fitted aTowsure towbar and wired directly into the existing wiring without any problems.

fitted mine just now opted for the towtrust 615 towbar . no need for special wiring kit as i fitted single electrics only . the specialized wiring is for double electrics as you need to run a live feed from boot cigar lighter socket and its somehow connected to the reverse lights , which also are connected to an ecu somewhere and have a special fuse involved somewhere also . It also eliminates the need to fit the buzzer in the boot .

i like the buzzer and the £ 48 saving . cheers towequipe once again.
