With the advance in oil technology, you cant just put any oil in your engine, It has to conform to the correct spec as recommended by VW (in the case of this forum)

Many dealers use and recommend castrol to match whichever standard XXX.XX (507.00 for example).

I found this on www.mytreg.com (http://www.mytreg.com) detailing different manufactures oils that meet the same standard.

Simply by asking your dealer for the correct vw spec should be enough to find out from this list what others are available.

I saw a list of oils that someone was selling, (Name of oil and price in a long list) and I thought it was all quite pricey, £25 for 4 ltrs there abouts.

With regard to my own specific circumstance and my car a GOLF MK5 GT TDI on Longlife servicing, I use Elf evoloution CRV. My dad drives a 2.5 tdi Touareg also on longlife which also uses the same oil. www.lubadmin.com/upload/produit/FichePDF/lang_1/488.pdf

I believe the V6 and V10 use a differt spec.

I can get this stuff at nearly half price!!!

This is good news for me and my dad

Yes i hear what you say, buying 18 ltrs is alot of cash up front, you may crash or change the car and not need it. my reply - www.ebay.co.uk
Someone always wants to make a saving.

VENTURA VOLKSWAGEN at TAMWORTH CHARGE £12 per litre and my car requires 4 - 4.5 lts for an LONGLIFE oil change. This is correct as at 09:10 hrs on 1st May 2007, it's a considerable saving. Nearly 50%

Going to put some on ebay soon to see the reaction. I'll post the link here somewhere. here it is http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160112570861&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsearch%2F search.dll%3FMfcISAPICommand%3DGetResult%26ht%3D1% 26shortcut%3D0%26from%3DR41%26query%3D160112570861 %26category0%3D%26Submit%3DSearch%26fvi%3D1

I'll also scan the label on the bottle and post here

Its sure to save us loads of ££££££££££ on oil when it comes to servicing as we'll supply our own

Have a browse here, you should find everything you need www.lubricants.elf.com/lub/lubRoot.nsf/VS_OPM/3C44780A936138B4C1256E7F0043CBA4?OpenDocument

I hope this reads alright and i'm not breaking any forum rules. I just like saving people money.
