wobbles!

Hi all, my passat has just started to vibrate at 70+ mph. the steering wheel shakes a tiny amount from left to right, any ideas what might cause this?

A simple case of wheel balance, worn tyres, traking out, bad road surface, etc ?.

the car has an MOT on the 9th of october, i thought it could be wheel balance too but dont they check those sort of things on an mot?
