engine running

over the weekend i was have a bit of a fiddle, trying to get to the bottom of the fluffy running problem.
i had the air box and pipes off while cleaning the throttle body..anyway i started the car with the airbox etc disconnected...and it ran fine..should it do this??..does this mean my mass air sensor is knackered??:confused:

cars a 96 2.6 abc engine if that helps.

its been on a vag com and no codes came up.

have you re assembled it and it now runs rough if so unplug the air mass meter if it runs fine then yes i would say that was your problem unless this component is completely kaput it wont show up on vag com

I don't think you have damaged the AMM,the ABC engine does not have one;)

Is that definite - if the ABC engine doesn't have an air flow sensor what does the job?
