The cars broke and its all my fault!

Driving today and the engine light came on and the oil light also, checked the oil and the dipstick was low even tho a couple of days ago it had adequate oil. Topped it up and went a bit to far, drove around the block and it started making a terrible noise much like a diesel car any time it went under 2000 RPM. I drained the oil out and now the bugger still makes the sound. Any ideas?

It sounds like the oil pump strainer/pick up pipe might be blocked, it's a sump off job to check/sort out. Hopefully it hasn't done any major damage.

Cars been to a Mechanic today and problem could be the oil pump, the top end of the engine is bone dry and the oil breather pipe has been split and this is where a lot of oil has escaped, we now need to find out why the oil isn't getting to the top of the engine, possbly a new oil pump will be needed. does anyone know how much these are.

£350 later An Oil Leak from the oil breather pipe was the main culprit, had a new oil pump and a clean out and now she's fine.
