Mk3 Cabrio with dead clocks!

Hey all, my cabrio's clocks have taken a tablet all of a sudden, all was well over winter while she stood and waited for the sunshine to come out, thinking about beating the weather I would take the battery off and charge it up ready, upon reconnection my lcd display, tacho, speedo, and fuel/temp gauge are now not working. All the lights work ie- indicators, main beam, brake warning, battery and it runs fine drives fine, just no electronics etc! Have taken battery off again looked for loose earth wires in the bay and taken the dash/fusebox out and can't find a thing! :aargh4:
Help, please, any advice would be good!!
