Does anyone know what the original battery capacity is for the A6 2.5 5cylinder turbo diesel engine 1997 (Avant Quattro if that makes any difference)? Mine seems to have totally died on the first cold night and the existing battery has no markings.
Hi,
One way to find out is to look at the option codes on the sticker in the spare wheel well, then decode them at
http://igorweb.org/equidec/Default.aspx
My A6 has the following code:
J0Z = Battery 520 A (110 Ah)
whereas Mrs. F's TT has
J0R = Battery 380 A (80 Ah)
MF.

If your battery is under the back seat (air con model) the battery is smaller, My A6 2.5tdi Quattro has Climate and the battery is under the rear bench seat, My brother had one with no aircon and his was in the eingine bay, it was quite a lot bigger than mine.
