1971 Volkswagon Transporter Camper

Just purchased a 1971 VW Transporter Camper and I am trying to find some information on it? Where can I find information on the original look. I think it had a sink and and cook top. Any information would be appreciated. Also, Why do the buses have 2 Batteries? Thanks for any help!!

The second battery is to power things in the van without you making the vehicles driving battery flat. It is no good watching TV until the early hours if the van will not start in the morning.
