I have put a deposit down on a 2004 1.8T (190bhp) Quattro Sport at a garage.
It is fully loaded with leather, cruise, park sensors and has done 61k and has had 2 owners.
Now the garage said that it had fsh (last one done at 59k with water pump and cambelt done due to water pump failing). They told us they were waiting for the receipt to come for the work carried out.
However, they rang today to enquire about us picking the car up and when we asked about the service history, we were told that it was last done at 49k with the cambelt and water pump being done at 59k.

As I don't know the service intervals for the A4 (1st one, changing from a Cherokee;) ) and therefore don't know if the lack of a 60k service would be a problem.

Thanks in advance for any advice given

hmmm. Mine's every 10k - different motor I know but I'd expect them to be similar. 9 or 10k. If the last service was at 49k and the cambelt and pump done at 59k I'd wonder if they also serviced it then? Need to see the receipt I suppose. If not then the oil is 2k over. Not ideal but seeing as it's only 2k over and only happened once I'd expect no problems. Get them to service it for you for free.

more than likley the water pump failed at 60k, so the cam belt was changed while it was in bits as it was due then..

And maybe the car is on a long life service.. 20k..

if Audi did the work check the service book as it will state long life..

ok cheers fellas.
They are getting back to me tomorrow about the s/history.
I would have thought that when it was in for the cambelt / waterpump it would have been serviced as the previous owner has always had it done on time.

The car is on the long life service schedule.
It did have the water pump and cam belt done at 59k, but no service as it isn't due until 65k according to the DIS.
Have purchased the car anyway:D
So much of a difference from my Jeep Cherokee, lol.

Thanks for the advice

Hi,,Have same 190 myself,,got cam belt changed at 62000 miles, water pump was done at the same time. This was recommended by 2 audi specialists as new belt puts pressure on older pump and big job getting pump changed on it"s own,so do both together. Service intervals are 9000 miles, but once the service light is reset after service it takes a few hundred miles to come back on,so don"t be alarmed if it does not reset immediately. Hope you have as much fun with your new car as i have with mine,,,Kipperano
