Thread Hi-jacking seems to be prevelant by many Forum users, ESPECIALLY ME!! I do not mean to do it! It just seems to go that way.
Anyway lets stick to the post topic, Cruise Control and MPG!!??
What I am getting at in my roundabout drivellish way is, that in the real world to drive with the cruise set to a speed is in theory efficient but the external forces and surrounding impairments ie. other road users, roadworks etc. mean that the cruise needs to be adjusted. With a driver you can feather the use of the throttle according to the road conditions allowing for less energy to be wasted. Plus being stuck behind someone on the Autobahn who has his Cruise set unrealistically is frustrating at best. (Elephant racing:- Like when one truck over takes another at 1MPH more!)

Good call....

On the hi-jack topic of consumption - the 2.0TDi loaner I have from the garage is really not that great on economy. I drove it sensibly today and got just 42.8 mpg on a mixed routh that was 75% motorway / A-roads and 25% towns & villages. The journey was 48 miles. My 3.0 TDi on the same route gets 41 mpg usually when driven more spiritedly.

A couple of observations :

The 3.0 litre is much better when at a fast cruise (consumption is better). Cruising at around 85 mph (obviously private roads etc etc...)
Quattro makes the car feel completely different - less fluid but much more stable and planted. Roundabouts are fun in the Q.
Round town the 2.0 litre is better and seems to prefer the slow speed town work.
Clutch on the 2.0 is much less grabby than on the 3.0.

Hey ho - back to work.

This boot netting impresses me more and more as I use it. Today I put four bags of shopping in the boot, encased them in the netting, and drove back home like a maniac... upon arrival... no problem.

Simple things please simple minds, but I don't care.

Consider yourself habitually curious if you have ever typed "COMPARETHEMEERKAT.COM" into the search engine on your computer to see what is actually there!

I put a tenners worth of petrol in the Q5 loaner today cos the fuel meter said "you have 5 miles left", that took it to 70 miles. By time I drove from East Hull to Grimsby via the Humber Bridge it said I had 25 miles left in the tank....

Thank F*** it's gone back.

O' by the way it did 0-60 in 8.7secs.

Friday's not Sub day. :zx11:

Thursday is Subday with the Italian BMT. Foot long on Italian Herb and Cheese.

Today is Friday so that must be the day for a pint. Is it beer o'clock yet?
