A3 electrical problems

Hi Guys,
I,m new and haven't a clue.

My A3 its an 01 1.6 sport, has developed an electrical problem. The hazard lights keep coming on by themselves!

I went out this morning and the battery was dead. I jumped it and the hazards came on. I turned them off and came back a few minutes later and they were back on again!:aargh4:

The missus took the car to work and phoned to say that its still doing it! Any suggestions as to what this could be. Car just aced the mot so I hope/think it could be something serious. Could it?

Could it be the alarm activating,but the alarm horn not working?

I'll check that mate. I've been told to disconnect the battery for 10 mins. Apperntly this will reset the ecu and start from fresh. Anyone I've spoke to today has all said the same thing, either alarm or immobiliser.
