Hi Audi A3 2004 3.2 dsg i have cruise fitted and wanted mfsw so fitted along with new steering ecu 8p0 953 549 F. Everthing works fine cruise all steering wheel controls airbag no errors but the esp light is on and says basic settings lost. I have followed the insructions on ross tech wiki but in abs control block 60 says not connected(it does this for both steering ecu the old one is 8p0 953 549) if i goto steering assist 44 block 60 it lets me run but says not possible. Any one had this before and am i just missing something in the instructions

Did you try going for a drive, covering a couple of miles? Also while stationary (with engine running) try turning from lock-to-lock, pausing at full lock each way for a couple of seconds and then put the wheel back to straight ahead? This should sort it out, if not try the ross-tech procedure again and all should be well.

still no joy with this is it possible the steering angle sensor is not compatible with the new steering ecu. Refitted the old ecu and still cannot calibrate although after a while the old ecu clears the lights. I still feel i'm missing something when trying to calibrate.

Steering angle sensor will be fine as long as its installed correctly.

If the light goes out, whats the problem? Do you still have fault codes returning after the light is out? What are they?

A bit of detailed information goes a long way to enabling people to help you, there is no crystal ball here!!

no the lights only go out with the old ecu and not with the new, thinking might get new slip ring although all controls work on wheel. Is the login def 40168 as it always says not possible even with all old controls fitted

Thats the right login code, could be that your slip-ring is the wrong revision number. Find out it its number and check it.

If the login fails with your old unit, could be your version of VAG-COM (unlikely but worth checking). If you cant get the login to work it should sort itself out after a few miles. Mine did as it wouldnt accept the code either.
