Thermostat Relief Valve

Hey there peeps........I have a questions.

I had my thermostat replaced, but I noticed something ....

The thermostat that came of the car had a (kinda) relief valve/hole...

The one I bought and was put on the car did not have that relief valve/hole on it.......it was solid all around...

Should I be concerned?? Someone told me that the car can heat up and blow a gasket without that missing relief valve...

Any input???
