Hi,

Just bought a key fob with an uncut key blade with instructions of how to program it. Unfortunately my other key fob transmitter seems to be faulty.

Is there any software out there that allows you to program your key fob and the car immobiliser.

Thanks for your help but I already am aware of the instructions and cannot follow them because I have no key which I can use to open the door via the button as the transmitter int he original key is faulty.

Hence I was asking whether this can be done via some software out there and whether anyone was aware of one?

It doesn't matter that the existing trasmitter is faulty, you just need to put the new key into the ignition, lock the car with the other key, (window down is the easyest way) the switch on the ignition with the new key and press the button as per instructions...work great for me.

I then used VAG-COM to program the key to the immobiliser, you need the SKC code, which audi will no be able to give you, they just hook up to the database now and don't see the key for security reasons!!

That link guyg posted looks interesting would be nice just to get the software for a play around.

I purchased the software from vagproducts and it works a treat. I have been able to read the pin from many dashes, and to program the remote to unlock the car was a case of simply putting the key in the door and holding it open until the windows came down (go figure!!)
I am not sure where you are but if I can be any help??

Try here, I found this one by chance, and the guy ships really quickly. I think I paid about £25 and got a cable and a link to the software. I was able to read the pin from most dashes except motometer, which seems to be the problem with this product.
Mind you £25 is not much of a gamble in my opinion.

How did you get in contact with them, all the other pages on their site seem to 404?

The dashes are made by a number of different companies. I have sucessfully read magnetti marelli, and VDO, but was unable to read a motometer dash.
If you take out the dash it has the manufacturers name on the back.

I have a somewhat related question that I doubt needs its own thread.

I have a 1999 Passat GLS, I bought it with only one key fob and it's now starting to show it's age. (held together with tape)

I also don't like the design of the keychain attachment for the B5 era fob, it broke about a year ago. Friends of mine have newer GTIs and their fobs have these nice big metal bars at the bottom to attach it to keychains.

So, does anyone know if it's possible to get the newer fob for an older car and have the keyless entry and everything still work?

you need to match the key with theexisting model, but a good auto locksmith may be able to offer more.

This is something I've been looking into
