I resisted saying automatics as I know some of you don't like it ;)

Any one tried it ?

"Turns out Audi has stacked the deck by endowing the transmission with an unadvertised drag-strip mode.

If you deactivate stability control, depress both the brake and throttle and then release the brake when the engine speed stops rising — a process known as "brake-torquing," which is standard procedure for our track drivers — the transmission bangs off uniquely quick and harsh upshifts that occur at least 500 rpm sooner than usual, presumably to keep the turbo boost from tailing off near redline."

... and like F1 cars, your gear box will last at least 1k miles!

As far as I know Audi hasn't enabled LC on any of it's Automatics apart from the A3 DSG and this is only on the 2.0T and the old 3.2.
My GolF GTI DSG had it and it was dam right harsh. I only tried it a couple of times.
Even the new S4 doesn't have LC...

This quote doesn't add up, so for me I'm sticking by what I know.
I've tried it and it doesn't work on mine.

""The all-wheel-drive 2009 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that cranks out 211 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque — increases of 11 hp and 51 lb-ft over last year's A4. Our test car was equipped with the six-speed automatic transmission. EPA fuel economy estimates stand at 21 mpg city/27 mpg highway and 23 mpg combined. At the test track, our A4 leapt to 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds, an impressive showing indeed for a 211-hp sedan weighing nearly 3,800 pounds""

I read on a US forum that MY2011 auto's now have launch control.

[1] Turn of traction control and put it in either sport drive.
[2] Hold the brake (left foot) and then press the accelerator. It should climb to 3k rpm. Note that it will only get to 3k rpm if the throttle is totally down.
[3] Press head into headrest ;)
[4] Lift foot off brake and grin

Have fun.

Alas, I can't switch off traction control - it goes into ESP Offroad on the Allroad - but not sure I fancy the idea of effectively drop clutching 500NM straight into the drive train. ;)

This is exactly how you do Launch Control in my Wife's Audi TTS. Hold it on the brake, release brake and hold on :D Her's is an 08 model TT, so the LC function has been around a while

Which A4's have the S-Tronic ?

You only have to press the ESP button once also, means that you keep the "safety net" of full skid prevention should you need it. I guess it would also work with two press's and switch it off completely.
