Hope someone can help please. I have a 1999 1.9tdi that recently had the antenna base screw (that the bee sting ariel screwed into, not the whole unit) ripped out in the car wash.. wasn't happy.
I decided to change the whole unit on the roof with a low profile shark fin type, to prevent it happening again. Bit of a bugger to do but it went well, but now the radio reception is almost none existent. Bought a second different model shark fin, but still no reception. Looks nice though.......! The car has had an Alpine head unit in for over 6 years without a fault, so its safe to assume that there isnt an issue with the head/ariel wire connector. Must I have an original stubby type base, or has anyone had any success with the shark fin type?
