TDI Alternator removal ???

Hi all,i`m looking to change the alternator on my 2004 Passat (100),i have gone through previous threads and some reckon that i can leave the front of the car in place but i cant see for the life of me how to remove the viscous fan without doing this,please can someone give me an idiots guide to alternator removal...thanks in advance...Dave

Do you know if this works with a 2002 AVF 130 engine? :confused:
