Help with Iphone and AMI after 3.1 update

Hi All,

Does anyone have iPhone working after the 3.1 update. Mine no longer connects or charges to/from AMI.

Has anyone updated to 3.1 and still have working connection?

what is the current sw version of the AMI,the ami driver can be updated if use the search function i have covered this subject but your the first to update to firmware 3.1,revert the update or see if the driver update for the ami works

I'll check the ami driver.

Everyone be warned that you CANNOT restore to a previous version from 3.1, I have download 3.01, apple blocks the restore.

I'd not upgrade if I were you, my perfect combination of phone / music car just got a little less perfect.

No problem.if you purchase the usb lead you can do it yourself in future by simply downloading the file and inserting the usb into the ami lead.Panic over,lol

We'll see, I'll get this done next week and report back.

I wouldn't upgrade to 3.1 until I've posted my findings back. I'll not be updating the phone again without checking it all works, if I get it working again.

I only bought an iPhone because of the great operation with the car, I'd have saved a whole lot of money with a HTC Magic.

I'll report back as soon as I've got the dealers to do the update.

OK, so the dealer won't put the update on as 'Audi has not asked them to do it' I can buy a cable kit for £50.

Which is £50 more than I want to spend.

Any ideas?

It really is currently impossible to downgrade to 3.01, even the 'dodgier' areas of the web are stumped.

That's a really kind offer.

I went in person to Stafford Audi and spoke to one of the service managers who was much more helpful. They've got some USB leads coming in tomorrow and I can borrow one of theirs.

I'll be sure to take you up on the offer if they let me down.

I'll report back tomorrow on the success or otherwise of the software update.

Having read the manual (for a change!):

It states "We recommend that you update the iPod software to the latest status."
Presumably the same applies to the iPhone if connected through AMI.

Go to the dealer and tell them you are only following Audi's instructions.

I suspect it'll either work or it won't and if it doesn't then I'll have to wait for Audi to update the software.

Google hasn't returned any "I've got 3.1 working" type things.

I've upgraded to 3.1 on iphone and I'm still able to use it on my AMI (I just tested it specifically for this thread. It works just fine)
There has been no software update performed on the car since collection.

16GB iPhone 3G
2010 with MMI 3G

Hopefully a software update, I think mines quite old, will sort this then.

I'm on a 3Gs but that shouldn't make a difference, again hopefully.

The moral of the story, check the corners you might find an elephant :o
