I have an 03 Polo that has no CD player. How do I get the strorage box under the radio out so that I can slot in a CD player.

Hi,

I also have an 03 polo.. I replaced the standard radio with a Sony CD player/dab radio.

It was easier than I thought..

First of all you need radio keys:

then you put them in the holes on the radio, pull the keys up and out (slowly) you should hear metal rubbing against metal, then pull the radio out completely and then you can pull out the storage box.

Sounds easy. Thanks for the help, especially the URL.

Forgot to tell you to disconnect the black (negative) terminal on the battery before starting work on the radio otherwise you may be shocked.

Hi,
I also want to fit a cd player to my wife's 03 Polo, but wanted to know if you fitted a genuine VW cd player and if you needed a spacer plate?
I managed to get one quite reasonably from E-Bay but it didn't have this plate and some people say you do need it, and others you don't!
I intend to keep the standard radio cassette and fit this cd player beneath, where the tray currently is.

Thanks.

Wouldn't think the spacer plate is too expensive, did you get the power lead with the cd unit?
