I have a 2005 Beetle 2.0 petrol with only 15,000 miles on the clock.

Just had a 40,000 mile service done and have been told that my cambelt is due.

This seems incorrect to me as the mileage is very low. Or is it because of the age of the car.

Need help as I feel I am being ripped off:mad:

4 years for the cambelt

The service interval is 4 years which at low mileage would make me squirm too :(

I've just had my 2.0L 2001 Bug done for the first time I believe and the car has done 73k miles

Someone had written cambelt in different pen in the service book so when I checked noone had actually ever done it. I paid my local man £290 for cambelt, fanbelt and water pump change.

With these cars you generally do the water pump at the same time. The pump is ideally done <40k as the plastic imellor blades can detach with age then your Bug overheats.

It's your call financially whether you can afford to keep things all in order or live on the edge and stick more miles on a belt that is designed for 60k+

My 73k belt was well worn but not falling to pieces unlike my water pump!!
