Hi Irish VWAudi members! I'm wondering how many of us are out there? Reply to this post with your location so we have an idea who and where we are. Might be useful for mutual support/help?

I'm currently living in Newbridge, Kildare, but will be moving to Tullamore, Offaly in the new year (2009) after I get married. I am and will continue to work in Citywest, Dublin.

Up here in sunny Omagh. Drive a 1995 2.4 Caravelle. So no problems with turbo, air-mass sensor, ABS etc. Plod along, but would probably make Omagh-Belfast two minutes quicker in a BMW M5. Can pick up five passengers though or half-a-tonne of cement.

Got it done at Chipped Ireland ( Malahide Road Coolock ) €300, probably cheaper now ? Takes 30 mins. Totally different car to drive now. Bags of torque so you don't need to flog it. Economy up at least 5-6 mpg when driven sensibly, and i dont mean crawling either. Mines done a year almost now and so far no issues at all thankfully. Definately worth doing...........:approve:

Hi All, new here but have had VW/Audi's for about 10 years now and just got an A4 2.0 TDI today, not new, and I am keen to get some additional bits and pieces from someone that knows and I am wondering if you are still in Citywest? and may possibly help me out with your vagcom bit of kit? It can't help your fuel bills having to commute everyday from Tullamore and I would be willing to contribute to your fund for some assistance.

Cheers

[QUOTE=jessy808;727865]hi fulcrum111,
I'm living in Dublin but travel a lot, I am wondering if I was down your neck of the woods some time, is there any chance I could take you up on that offer as i dont know anyone up here who would do one for me ... I'm driving an Audi A6 C5 2.0TDI SE 2006.. also any one out know how much the remaps cost these days..
while I am asking is there any one who knows how to take of the grill and change the Fog light bulbs on these Audi's ...its wrecking my tiny little brain he he

Its great to see so many Irish vagdrivers on here.... keep it lit...

thanks for all the help guys an
slan for now

Hi

The fog light grills usually pull out with a firm tug
. Remap wise I'd recommend Joe from TRD chipped IRL. Should be around €300-350 . He did my A6 C6 170cr and removed the dpf and remapped my old 08 skoda rs cr, custom map too. And nice guy. Based in dunboyne

I would recommend Joe also. He will spend ages on the car until he feels it is right and gives a Dyno reading and printout too!

Audi dealers here are brigands IMO, VW are a bit better, I've bought stuf off Agnews in Northern Ireland cheaper even with exchange rates

Just arrived this morning...

I need to know......Can I tell from my VIN number which year my car actually is,
and which AUDI published maintenace schedule applies for example when deciding
the meintenance schedule for my 2.5tdi.
I find there are different recommended replacement mileages for the Timing Belt depending on
which year...and then I presumeably have to pin the VIN code to manufacture in
the first or second half of 2003

Then all I want to ask is "does anyone know an AUDI qualified service that does'nt assume you are a millionaire just because you
own an Audi Allroad and if you bought new, probably paid 90000 Euros and answered 15 questions since from the revenue asking
where did you get the money to buy it? I have been quoted 1500 euros plus vat locally.

120000 km regardless of years if you're mad. 60k miles or 4 years is a good rule of thumb. Job takes 5 hours if everything goes well. A Gates timing belt kit and water pump will cost about 400 yoyos, three times that if you need camshafts. You're getting very high quotes considering this offer is being touted Audi Timing Belt Offers | South Dublin Audi (http://www.audisouthdublin.ie/aftersales-offers/audi-timing-belt)

Many thanks...that was quick...but will the price go up when I specify ALLROAD?

There's an extra 2 hours work @80 ish an hour however your local Audi dealer has to be worth a call and you would have the reassurance that it was done properly (or should be)

You mentioned a GATES belt...is that AUDI official and is it the one your rec supplier uses?

If not where do i GET IT AND WHO DO i GET TO FIT IT?

Un Autre question

Does the timing belt(is it not just a belt but a whole kit and caboodle?) cover all the other things AUDI would expect you to replace while your'e in there....if you
see what I mean?

This is great....

Is there a UK published service maintenance schedule anywhere...what to do and when?

Gates is a company that makes belts that are OEM (original equipment manufacturer) or better. The timing belt kit comes with any tensioners, pulleys and bolts needed to change the belt. You will also need a new water pump and drive belt and a fuel pump belt. Servicing as a rule of thumb is 10k miles or 1 year with brake fluid change every second year and coolant renewal every third year. Brakes etc as needed. If you get a main dealer they will supply all parts. http://www.connollys.ie/contentv3/ This isn't a job for someone that watched a guy on youtube changing the timing belt on a Punto, You need special tools and know what you're at!

Conolly's charge what they think the market will bear.
I.E every AUDI owner is a company and private individuals have to produce
their passport to prove they are not billing the company, or their pissport
to prove they are over 65.
Knowledge is profit

Ring Agnew's in Belfast, great reputation good prices on parts and work. A6_Chris uses them and I had dealings with them in the past so I'd recommend them. Worth the price of a call
