Hi All,

I have a POLO, 1.4 cl. Getting a slight engine smell in the cab.

Seem to at speed.

Any ideas anyone?

In mine changing the cabin air filter made a huge difference - the old one was saturated with who knows what! A quick test to check - turn off the fan and see if you still have the smell. If the smell is reduced with the fan off then the filter is a good bet.

Thats great many thanks. Bang on, fan on def worse! Sorry to sound dumb where is the filter located? Should buy a Haines :-)

The filter is accessed from the bonnet: it is in the 'bulkhead' on the passenger side of the car. First pull off the rubber strip that runs full width separating the bulkhead from the engine compartment. Then lift up the rubber flap at the bottom edge of the windscreen and remove the 3 (IIRC) pin/clip things. At which stage yu can lift out the cover etc.

Filters are £10 @ Halfords and cheaper anywhere else (like online).
