Hi, just wondered if this was anything obvious to anyone. Recently bought a 1999 (V) 110TDi Sport Passat Estate and none of the 12V sockets work. I've checked the fuse (no33 I think) but still no power.
Any ideas anyone, i'm not amazing with electrics !!
Cheers, Simon.

Fuses for cig lighters are under the dash/knee bolster.

I posted about this very recently here - http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=7264

Thanks for that Sam, i'll have a look as soon as I get a chance and let you know. The car has had a towbar fitted at some time and I was worried the power supply might have been taken. I hope not.

Cheers, Simon.

Do the tow bar electrics work?

To be honest Sam I don't know yet, i've only had the car 3-4 weeks and haven't connected up the towbar or the trailer up to now. I will have a look.
Cheers, Simon.

I'll put money on it that they have taken the power supply from the 12v socket, it's just too inviting to do so!! This shouldn't be too much of a problem if you only have a 12n (black) socket, and the supply is powering an additional indicator booster relay, but is a big NO NO if it's powering a 12s (grey) socket, as this one is used to supply higher power ratings than the 12n.

Hi, thanks for the help. It's only single towbar electrics but i'll be checking over the weekend and will post a reply.
Cheers, Simon.

Hi, my towbar electrics are working, connected trailer up to it today. I had a quick look for the two fuses under the dash but didn't find them. Are they with the relays behind the headlight switch panel ?, I can see those relays when I remove the fuse cover on the off side of the dash.
Cheers, Simon.

I think, but I'm not 100% sure, that they're right up under the dash behind the relay plate.

Finally got round to finding thses fuses, they'd blown (20A). All being well should be O.K now. Thanks for your help. Simon.
