Fitted Cruise to my 2002 TDi, basically it required a switch, different lower steering wheel cowling (with hole for switch), wiring loom and finally activating.

Not all models require the loom, I think that it is dependant upon having DIS.

Total cost GBP £200.00

Would pay to shop around. Some members on these forums will offer to do it (incl. genuine parts) for much less than that.

Have just (this am) used it for the 300mile trip from London to Cornwall, and when you get past the M25 nonsense ... fantastic.

There is a bloke on the Bay that does it for about £220 if you live inside the M25 or £300 if you don't.
Can't remember his name, but he did get some very good reviews off people who had it done.

Audi in Norwich used to do it for between 2 and 300 depending which steering wheel you had. They had it on a special offer. May be worth a call and if they do try to knock your local dealership down?

If you want to be adventurous and try fitting it yourself then here's a good guide.

I believe it would take a VW technician 1.5hrs to fit (I've had a quote from my local VW *******).

A beginner could do it in anything upto around 4hrs. The most delicate and potentially dangerous bit is removing the airbag component.

The part itself costs around £65 from VW themselves.

I've had quote from VW Lookers in Burnley Lancs to supply & fit for £150.00. It's bit far from me so I'm going to get my local VW garage (Smith Knight Fay, Bury) to price match it. They quoted £200 otherwise.

Might even be worthgettin a quote from your local Seat/Skoda ******** aswell.

I just had mine done today at main norwich audi dealer. £244 all in :biglaugh:. Only got the 3 spoke steering wheel though. Not sure if it would be more for the multi function one.
