Oil cooler. Oil runs at up to 5 bar, water runs at about 0.5 bar so which way is the transfer going to take place. Yes, oil will go into the water and as oil floats on water it rises to the tank and gathers there. Fit a new cooler, rinse the system out and you should be OK.

The oil pressure problem is caused by the stupid oil pump drive...**** design and poorly made.

A BLB oil cooler is about £145 and takes around an hour to fit. Don’t let someone talk you into a cheap pattern unit, insist on a genuine VAG dealer/TPS supplied unit and two new “O” rings.
