Have an Audi A6 avant 2.4 SE Quattro. Had it since last August. Done about 2000 miles (currently 39000 ish). Only drive it on the weekends mainly around town with the occasional long drive.

According to the dashboard indicator will be due a service in 1800 miles/26 days. Audi will charge me about £360 for a 'full service'. There are some independent 'online only' dealers that I am unfamiliar with like prestige car servicing (http://www.prestigecarservicing.com/hassle-free-car-service.html) or national serivce framework http://www.nsn.co.uk/d/google?gclid=CIa8iOe6u5kCFQ5uQgodlx1X6Q.

I have no intention of selling this car as am very attached to it. Obviously want to look after it. Any advice for a reasonable major service would be appreciated.

thanks

How old is the car?. I know Audi dealers are doing fix price work see link

http://www.audi.co.uk/audi/uk/en2/owners_area/Servicing_with_Audi/pricing.html

You will always pay more at an Audi dealer, But my experience its worth it. Unfortunately my dealer is in the midlands or maybe a little far from SW19.

I too would like to know where to get reasonable priced Audi service for my 2006 A6 .. On the Audi website it says :-

I need a "Full Service" so is that the Major service and it will cost me £199?
It says cars that are 3 years + which is mine and it is a fixed price.

Any comments?

Thanks

My sister had her 2006 2.0 petrol (A4) serviced for £199 at wimbledon audi. She cannot remember what they actually did but was charged an extra £49 for a brake fluid change (as per the website). When I asked about getting my 2.4 A6, they were going to charge me £360 (but cannot remember details re: what this actually comprised).

I can recommend The Auto Pool in Iver - not exactly Wimbledon, but near the M25/M4 I've not used them, but one of my colleagues has and was pleased.

Russell Automotive are one of the forum sponsors here, and they're based in NW9.

Hope this helps.

Had a £199 service done on my a6 2.0 tdi at Audi Huddersfield. Apparently they do not use long life oil for this service and that the service indicator would be set to time and distance, and they recommended that I get a long life service done at £345, I told them not thanks since I'd rather go 10k miles max between services.
I then asked for a litre of top up oil and the sold me 1 litre of long life for around £8, so I have no idea what oil is actually in the car. (PS Theservice indicator shows 17300 miles remaining so it has not been reset ..more puzzlement)..

Hmm this is confusing. I am going to ring up Chingford Audi tomorrow and ask about there Service costs. I will then ring up Whetstone Audi and compare there costs (worth a try),

I got my car a few days ago and the previous owner did not service the car as I guess he knew he was selling up soon so the service is quite overdue. What service should I go for?

Anyone have the pricing levels for all the types of servicing? What is the difference between interim and a major service...is there any service above Major?

Thanks
