Hi,
I'm looking at a 2002 2.5 TDI (non Quattro) and I've noticed that the auto gear selector panel looks differnt to the one on my 2005 B7:

2005 model 2002 model
It got me thinking, is the 2002 model likely to be a 5-speed? (My B7 is a 6-speed) and if so, what year did the 6-speed auto boxes come in?
I've always thought of 5-speeds autos as being rather uneconomical. Considering I drive like a grandad and stick to about 65mph on the motorway, will a 5-speed auto result in much reduced economy over a 6?
Cheers
Al.
