My A4 B6 2003 1.9TDI is a SE but has the black trim around the windows etc. Is it possible to replace this with a chrome trim? I thought all SE's came with chrome like the VW's?

All SE's come with it.. I have never heard of one with it it??

I have looked at fitting it to mine... its not a cheap or easy option..

Search the forum for "OPTION CODES" and enter all your options codes to check if it is an SE..

No.. from day one ...

STANDARD - without,
SPORT - Without
SE - With

Unless some one who order an SE said they dont want the trim which i can not see happening

There is a currenlt post on this subject at audi-sport.net

Interesting reading as I too wanted to change the trim.. But it looks to be a 'no-go' due the the time and cost involved!

just had a thought... this may be a answer..

I see you have the 74kw engine.. ie 100BHP (not RED "I")

i know the 1.9TDI 130BHP for sure came with the crome.. maybe the SE on the 100BHP didnt come as standard with it??

Just a thought..

Can it be replaced by the dealer? Who else does it? Cheers.

My motor is a A4 Avant sport FSI B6.
Ive just had all of my chrome trim replaced under warranty and an audi dealer took 2 days to do the work. At £110 +vat per hour it would cost a small fortune.

Chrome can be re-fitted, i know a garage where the wrong order was submitted for a car:confused: , it came with no chrome, garage had to turn around - order and fit the chrome - parts cost over €700 and i don't know how long it took, i.e. with enough money & enough time anything is possible!!;)

It was an option when you bought the car, SE or not. I've got a 1.8T Quattro SE and mines not got one either.

Wish it did but i'm starting to like the idea that everyone else has got one and mine hasn't. Got some black inserts on my wheels and getting some black front lights to match!

ummmm at lots of ££££s i think i will stick with the black trim as well! Would have loved to have had chrome but when buying 2nd hand you never get a list of options!! Black Lights sound interesting though!!

I'm sure you could specify no chrome as a no cost option on the SE if you wanted to, same with black or chrome roof bars.

Chrome was certainly standard when I ordered mine.
