Are compressors the same on all b6 petrol engines? If not what compressors will fit my 3.0 v6 2002 quattro?

There are so many on ebay etc but none i can find to fit my car..

if some vw/seat/skoda vehicles use the same engines, why do they have differend part numbers for the compressor?

You can have 2 identical engines with different makes of compressors,hence a different part number

Im struggling to find what compressor i need, i been on a few sites and some seem to think any compressor from a b6 petrol will fit. Others think only an 8E0260805G will fit... any advice on what will actually fit my car?

The different compressors have different fittings and brackets,if you can read the manufacturing code of the old compressor Denso and Zexel are the most common,it will help to determine which unit you need
